Polly's husband Joel was a veteran of the War of 1812 (he would have been a teenager). Joel and Polly were both born in New York and they married in Jefferson County, New York in 1824. All 11 of their children were born in New York, and four of them died young while they were still living there.
Joel and Polly and their seven surviving children moved to Iowa from New York in the 1850s. They settled in Floyd County, just over the line from Chickasaw County and close to the town of Nashua. Joel was a farmer. After he died in 1869, Polly continued to run the family farm. The 1870 census lists her occupation as "Farmer." Most of their children continued to live in Iowa, where they married and had their own children.
There are many family members buried in Oak Hill, and also nearby Greenwood Cemetery, either under the names "Parrish" and "Parish" (the spelling used by most of the descendants after Joel and Polly) or under their married names. Many later family members also moved onward from Iowa, including to Minnesota, California, and Washington, and probably other places I don't know about.
